India’s electric vehicle (EV) market is buzzing as two global giants — Tesla and VinFast — make bold moves to establish their presence.

• Tesla officially entered India with the opening of its first showroom in Mumbai’s BKC, marking a major milestone in its long-awaited India debut. The U.S. EV leader plans to introduce Model 3 and Model Y initially, with a local manufacturing plant likely to follow soon.

“Meanwhile, Vietnam’s EV manufacturer VinFast has launched bookings for its VF6 and VF7 electric SUVs, starting today. The company is setting up 32 dealerships across 27 cities and aims to expand to 35 by the end of 2025. VinFast has already broken ground on its first manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu, set to be operational by 2026.

Industry experts see this as the start of a new EV era in India, with fierce competition, improved options for buyers, and significant progress toward the country’s green mobility goals.
